THE EVENT	The fifth edition of Week Rd+ will be held from October 5 – 13, 2007. The exhibition that sponsors and promotes design culture also has an international dimension. The numerous initiatives held during the event will involve companies, universities, institutions, professionals and the general public, proving that design brings innovation and growth. The personal and theme exhibits focus on different fields of design, exploring the potential of new materials and technologies to be turned into new products. It examines the new forms of expression adopted by designers and highlights the more advanced forms of experimentation used by young designers. The seminars and conferences will focus on the challenges facing design in the global market, looking to see how design can contribute to innovative production as well as modify social relationships and behaviour. Workshops and performances will involve the public in open, interactive spaces.
THEME	Design off limits is the fil-rouge of this 2007 edition. This topic was chosen to highlight one of the contemporary issues that design has to consider when it envisages future scenarios, when it trespasses beyond its own disciplinary boundaries, when it deals with extreme conditions, when it tackles certain key concepts of the visual and material culture of global society and digital communications such as hybridisation, transfer and contamination.
THE VENUE	The main venue of the events held during Week Rd+ is the prestigious Spazio Etoile in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, in the heart of the old city centre. Exhibitions and performances will be held here and at the Scuderie di Palazzo Ruspali. Conferences, meetings and workshops will take place in the lecture halls of the graduate course in design in Piazza Borghese. Inside the Spazio Etoile Experience Bar will be set up: It is a multifunctional concept, a mixture of art and tasting, a sort of gallery, art-setting, product lunch and tasting experience for the general pubic. Not just a cocktail, but a multisensorial experience, truly an off-limits event to experience and share one’s passion for food, with an eye on design; making the event sophisticated and intriguing. DESIGN IS EVERYWHERE will use other itinerant venues around the city. This event brings together all the other initiatives; it is a network, a journey highlighting the city’s ability to propose a creative design culture using two types of events: DESIGN IN–RETE and HYBRID CULTURES, that take place in different venues and itineraries around the city.
